We All Have the Ability To Get Six Pack Abs

Why Don't More People Have 6 Pack Abs?

Why is it that 6 pack abs are so prevalent in magazines and movies, but not so common in the real world. Remember Brad Pitt in Fight Club, or Daniel Craig in "James Bond"? What about Jessica Alba in "Into the Blue". Do movie stars have a different physiology than normal folks? Of course not! I think the main reason that people don't have 6 pack abs is that they don't believe it is possible or realistic for them. Believe me, you can get amazing abs with the proper approach. Yes, just as good as Will Smith in "I Am Legend".

Lifting a Large Amount of Weight is Not As Impressive as Toned Abs

Don't be too impressed with the guy who can squat 500+ pounds or the guy who can bench 315 for reps. Seriously, this is much more common than a person with a ripped midsection. There are more people who can run for 1 hour straight than have six pack abs. Can you dunk a basketball? I put that in the same "rare air" as having incredible washboard abs. If you have been working out for a year or so and don't have 6 pack abs, then you aren't spending your time properly in the gym.

Your Entire Body Will Get Toned on Your Path to Getting 6 Pack Abs

Want to be guaranteed that your entire body will be defined? Then focus on getting six pack abs. Seriously, if you get to the point where you have a defined midsection then your entire body will look great. Have you ever seen a woman with a defined midsection with flabby arms. It won't happen! Your abdominal region is kind of the barometer of how fit you are.

Getting a Washboard Stomach is Mainly About Diet and Cardio

You don't get great abs from crunches and sit ups. I haven't done any type of crunching movement in over 5 years and my abs look phenomenal. Ab exercises certainly will help your abs look a tiny bit better, but focus your time on the thing that gives you the best results. I would say 90% of great abs is from diet and cardio. I wouldn't even bother doing crunches if your body fat is high, spend that extra 15 minutes and add that to your cardio workout.

Ab Exercises Probably Account for Only 10% of the Results

Some people will freak out if they don't do at least some for of crunching movement. If that is the case then do 3-4 sets, don't just spend too much time here. Spend the majority of your time burning body fat with cardio. I prefer running, since it forces your core to stabilize your body while you do it. Your abs have to tighten to transfer force from your legs to your upper body. This is especially true with interval training, which involves sprinting.

Summary: Most people just need to increase the amount of calories burned through cardio and decrease the amount of food consumed. I know this solution seems way too simple, but it is the truth!

That's not necessarily true, a lot of people are slim and already have low body fat percentages but do not have six pack abs. Cardio will burn fat and muscle if it is overworked.

Muscle actually burns fat.

Plus, what about those athletes who are distance runners/... Paula Radcliff, I don't recall her having six pack abs.

I think its a combination of Explosive Weight training and Cardio. Also it all depends on genetics,on how fast the abs will show during the Current body percentage. Some people will show there abs at 10% sum 12% and unlucky people have to get to 8%. I weight train , do cardio and watch my carb intake and i got a 4 pack. Working on 6 but its extremely hard when your body get used to your workouts. Remember to switch it up

"spot" training is a myth that guys wearing affliction clothing and walking around with invisible lats believe. Abs require total body fitness, they are the last feature that the majority of people will see. The reason for their rarity is due to the need for a carefully regulated diet which invovles manipulation of insulin levels for ideal fat loss, intelligent training which includes cardio and weight training, and intelligent cutting for that "ideal" look. Cardio without intelligent nutrition will actually "eat" at and destroy muscle, including abs. The writer of this article may need to re-exam him or herself in the mirror before giving out such horrible advise. There is no easy method to obtain results. It takes discipline and motivation. Most people are lazy slobs, lack time, or lack the drive to make time and that is REALLY why you dont' see abs very often in the united states as opposed to other countries. These quick sell articles people post are written by individuals who don't really know what they're talking about, they wouldn't be doing it for free if they did. I say to the writer... post a picture of yourself, not some actor/model. Go elsewhere if you're serious and looking for legit direction on where to begin getting in shape

i was personally fat as a kid and through most of my life.. i decided to change that when i turned about 18.. i lost alot of weight.. went from 240 down to 185 and that was with weight training.. still very littel abs.. you have to have the muscle for it to show.. i am 21 now and believe it or not i am built better than brad pitt was in fight club.. i am 6 foot 3 about 195 lbs and have a very athletic build at the moment. i spend about 1 hour a week on my abs.. either in one workout or split into 2. there is no maginc combination or workout for them. just beat the shit out of them like you would for any other muscle.

heres an example of my workout..

weighted oblique crunches on a low back ext bench 4*15

weighted cable crunches 4*20 superset w/ weighted cable twist 4*15

barbell rollouts from the knees with a 45 lb plate on your back 4*15

and to the other comments.. i think working them out was the most important to me bc when my weight would fluctuate i would still be able to see some muscle under the fat which was encouragement for me.
